2013 Menu Planning: 3/31 – 4/6/13

It was an attempt to use up most of my pantry and freezer items.  It was a great start.  After a full month of carefully-planned meals, I still have TONS of food items at our ready.  Okay, I did get a few things (many few things) that were free/cheap, but I did take some out for Project Hope, too.  And there was one crazy night when we got pizza.  I still have enough for at least a month, except, of course, for produce and dairy.  And there’s still that 10# box of assorted pork chops, which is interesting since I gave up pork.  Hmm.  Family in town in May, so we must have grillage.

Here’s what I’ve got on our dinner menu plan this week:

Easter Sunday: Roasted turkey (.69/#), baked potatoes (.25), broccoli (.50), asparagus for me ($1), carrots (.15), Buttery Soft Crescent Rolls (~.50).  About $4.50.  Oh, and the lamb cake (~$2 for the whole thing).

Monday:  Shanghai Chicken Meatballs (~2.50 for this meal), brown rice (.40), mixed stir-fry vegs ($1).  About $4.00.  Leftover cake.

Tuesday:  Spaghetti (.75) marinara (.54), broccoli (.50), house salads (.50).  About $2.50.

Wednesday:  Beantastic (~$2) soft tacos (tortillas .50, cheese .50), brown rice (.40), black beans (.25).  About $4.00.

Thursday:  Leftover turkey ($2) tetrazinni (leftover spaghetti accounted for), salads (.50).  About $2.50.

Friday:  Tuna ($1.50) casserole w/quinoa (~$1), carrots (.10), and leftover vegs, salads (.50).  About $3.25.

Saturday:  Grilled steak ($5), shroom and onion mixture from the freezer (.50), baked potatoes (.25), cole slaw (.40), carrots (.15).  About $6.50.

These seven meals for us will cost about $27.25!  That includes Easter dinner and a welcome-spring steak dinner.  Still finding deals on milk, and still trying to hold back on deals for my own pantry.
