Relaxing attitude of summer is finally here at Chez CT! Starting out lazy, because my Sundays are that way. The rest is easy-peasy. Thank goodness we’re expecting temps 20 degrees lower than the last few weeks, ’cause I feel like cooking. Maybe on the grill! In mid-week! NO jury duty this week after all (I guess they didn’t have the cases they expected), so not as crazy as I anticipated.
For our dinners, there’s a little this and a little that. Here’s what’s on our menus this week. Be sure to leave YOUR menu in a comment below.
Sunday: Jumbo dogs (.77), whole wheat buns (.50), sweet potato chips (1.30). About $2.60.
Monday: Creamy Chicken Enchiladas (~$2), salads (.50). About $2.50.
Tuesday: Crocked kraut (1.30), brats ($1.25), potatoes (.50). About $3.10.
Wednesday: Grilled burgers (~2.75), tortilla chips (.60). About $3.40. (Grilling tomorrow’s meat, too!)
Thursday: Grilled pork chops (3.55), corn on the cob ($1), salads (.50). About $5.10.
Friday: Stuffed Shells (~$3), salads (.50). About $3.50.
Saturday: Grilled steaks (4.80 for the meal), potatoes (.50), green veg TBD (~$1). About $6.30.
These dinners for my family of four (including a farm-working teen male-child) will cost about $26.50. Yes, we eat more than this, for breakfast, lunch and snacks. But we eat together as a family nearly every night, and planning this big chunk of budget is crucial to my wallet and my sanity! It could get (and has) as high as $40/week for our dinners alone, if I let it get out of control.
Speaking of control, I’m going to be eating a bit less myself in the coming weeks. Just 10-15 pounds. And now that the weather’s bearable, I’m out the door right now for a walk.
