I have to say that this year, my Advent is going very well, and nearly stress-free. Part of my bliss comes from menu planning and knowing that our Daily Bread is certainly being provided. Having it down on paper sure helps, too. We had some changes last week, but I was able to gladly accommodate them. An almost free pizza dinner, thanks to #1 (and he went and picked it up, too!) led to some switches, but it was all good. Really good! Here’s what’s on our dinner menus this week:
Sunday: Lasagne with zuchinni from the freezer (~$3.75), salads (.50). About $4.25. This dinner got moved from Saturday, as we schooched some things around to accommodate the nearly free pizza dinner on Friday. 🙂
Monday: Cheese, Bacon and Potato Soup (dressed up Chunky) ($1.50), biscuits (~.75). About $2.25.
Tuesday: Chicken (leftover ~$1) with Parmesan noodles ($2), salads (.50). About $3.50.
Wednesday: Pork steaks (very lean, I’m happy to say) ($3.56), noodles (.58), sweet potatoes (.40), peas (.44). About $5.10. Also schooched around to accommodate the change in last week’s plans.
Thursday: Spaghetti ($1) with red sauce (.58), salads (.50). About $2.10.
Friday: Chicken breasts, probably pan-grilled ($2.75), wild rice mixes ($1), broccoli (.51). About $4.25.
Saturday: Chili (meat 1.88, 2 cans beans @ .19, tomatoes .49, 1/2 jar salsa .60), cornbread (.50). About $3.85.
These dinners for four will cost about $25.30, or about $3.62 per meal (.90/person)! I’m going back to loss-leader shopping. We’ll eat what’s available, for Cheap, in season, and in abundance.
