So last week on Monday I made an apple crisp that I thought would last for at least two evenings. HA! It was gone on Monday. But it was good, really good. Welcome fall fare. The guys’ Spam on Friday caused me to nearly faint when I walked in around 8 pm. Phew! The house was aired out the next day (because it was near freezing at that point). Overall, the menus were well received, and easily put together.
This week I start a new gig with an old friend. I kinda know what to expect (so less stress), and will be done an hour earlier, with time to spend on making dinner and easing into the evening activities. More fall comfort food graces our table this week, aided by some awesome deals. All these dinners for four will cost about $34.00, or less than $5 per meal! Here’s what’s on our menus this week:
Sunday: Grilled patio steaks (~$5), salads (.50), potato and macaroni Reser salads (~$1.20 for this meal, the rest for lunches). About $6.75.
Monday: Pizzas (~$8).
Tuesday: Turkey ($2) soft tacos (.99), salads (.50). About $3.50.
Wednesday: Chunky soup ($1), garlicky crescents (.74). About $1.75.
Thursday: Chicken (leftover from grillage, $1.50) pot pie (vegs $.89, pie crust $1, other ingredients .60), big green salads (.50). About $3.50.
Friday: “Pierogi noodles” (noodles .89, smoked sausage 1.99, sauerkraut 1.69). About $4.60.
Saturday: Pork chops ($3.50) with whiskey sauce for adults (~$1), saucy potatoes (~.75), carrots (.50). About $5.75.
These dinners for four will cost about $34.00, or less than $5 per meal! When I look at it that way, the weekly cost doesn’t seem so bad. This is the highest cost week in a long time. I guess the rising grocery costs are not backing down, and I have a huge challenge in front or me. Bring it!
