Menu Planning 10/2-10/8/11

This is an easy week for me.  I have Crock Pot meals, fast-fix meals, and a weekend of YOYO meals.  Since it’s getting nippy in the evenings, more soups are hitting our bowls, too.

I’m glad I menu plan, because I’m able to have these kinds of weeks.  And making some things ahead for the freezer sure helps, too.  (This year’s 800 cookies are already hitting the basement freezer, too.)  I can’t remember not menu planning.  Even when I started cooking for myself in college, I remember doing it.  It’s rewarding, isn’t it?

Here’s what’s on our dinner menus this week:

Sunday:  Beef and barley soup (beef $1, tomatoes .19, broth .59, carrots .10, onion .25, light red beans .39, barley .30), biscuits (.75 for 14).  About $2.80.

Monday:  Crock Pot Swiss chicken (~$3), rice (.40), green salad (.50).  About $4.00.

Tuesday: Burgers ($2.50) on buns (.35), fries ($1.25), apple slices (.50).  About $4.50.

Wednesday:  Crock Pot tortellini and Italian sausage soup, recipe TBD (tortellini $1.38, sausage $1).  About $3.00.

Thursday:  You’re On Your Own (YOYO) dinner.

Friday:  YOYO dinner.

Saturday:  YOYO dinner, out with friends.

 These meals for four for four days will cost about $12.50.  Thursday through Saturday are iffy.
