Menu Planning: 10/31-11/6/10

What has Cheap Thrills planned for this week?

I can breathe.  My schedule lightened up, at least the driving part of it.  Still full days, but not so much on the road.  (I was driving 50 miles per day!  Ack!)  So I’m cooking more, still working on The Cookies, and readying the home for colder weather.  On Monday, the jack-o-lanterns come down and cornucopias go up.  With that comes heartier meals, spicier flavors, and sweaters!  I, however, am watching my intake so that I can fit into said sweaters.  Pretty much, I’m avoiding the starches at dinner, and eating very lean, hi-protein breakfasts, lunches and snacks.  And I’ll walk.  Much.  If I have to.  I guess.  So here’s what we have on the menu:

Sunday:  Bbq from the freezer (.99/# pork – $1 coupons), fries for the guys from the freezer (half a bag @ 1.69), celery (.77/bunch) and carrot sticks (finally the last of the FREE ones).

Monday: Chicken breasts grilled on Saturday (.66/#), Steamers veggie rice from the freezer (.50), salad (.50 for all)

Tuesday:  Beef barley soup (1.50), biscuits with garlic and cheese from scratch (about .50) for the guys

Wednesday:  Rubbed and herbed grilled turkey tenderloins (2.40), broccoli (.50), side salads (.50)

Thursday: Red Baron pan pizzas (2 @ 1.99 each!) for the guys, something mushy like spaghetti squash for me (dentist, ugh!)

Friday:  Turkey (leftover) stir-fry (1.50) with lots of garlic and ginger, rice (.10/serving) for the guys

Saturday:  Highly seasoned beef pot roast (splurge, but got FREE vegs), potatoes (last of the FREEs) for the guys, carrots ($1)

  1. Mel, it’s pretty hearty, and comfort food for Election Day.

Miz H, Thanks. Still deciding which of two recipes to use. But it’s supposed to be cold Saturday, so maybe spicy?
