$80 Per Week in 2010 — Week 41

I’m on a mission this year: spend $80 or less per week on groceries for my family of four! After reconciling all our expenses for 2009, all the while remembering the splurges during a special family celebration and replenishing of food storage, I realized I could and would do better in 2010. With the skills I’ve obtained, and the deals on some web sites I’ve discovered, “I hereby pledge to lower my food budget this year!”

Another day, another grocery store.  My schedule was wanky this week, with travel patterns affected by not having to pick up #2 on Wed-Fri, and with ILs coming in this week.  (Yeah.)  I hit Aldi one day, BnS another, and NF a third.  Great deals.

Do you wonder what I DO with these deals?  Check out my Menu Plan posts, where I show you how to put together frugal dinners with these stashed groceries.

This week for just food I spent $64.21, about 2/3 of my weekly budget.  This puts me at $393.87 under budget for the year!   Here’s where my dollars went:

BagNSave: Beef mock tender filets 1.99/#; Farmland beef sausage 2.45; OF graham pie crusts .94; Yoplait yogurts .29 each; apples; onions; Nestle morsels 1.27 each bag.  Total for food: 17.37
