$80 Per Week in 2010 — Week 39

I’m on a mission this year: spend $80 or less per week on groceries for my family of four! After reconciling all our expenses for 2009, all the while remembering the splurges during a special family celebration and replenishing of food storage, I realized I could and would do better in 2010. With the skills I’ve obtained, and the deals on some web sites I’ve discovered, “I hereby pledge to lower my food budget this year!”

Week 39 was an interesting week.  No vacas to consider, more soup deals, and even a trip to Target.  Thought the dust was starting to settle.  Naaaah.

This week for just food I spent $41.67, about half of my weekly budget.  This puts me at $354.84 under budget for the year!   Here’s where my dollars went:

No Frills:  Sunny D, .67; applesauce .91/jar and .98 organic 4-pack; ground beef patties .55/2 (w/Q from QSM).  Total for food: 6.45

Aldi:  Milks still 1.79/gallon!  yogurts .37 each, etc.s.  Total for food: 11.37

BagNSave:  Chunky soups .75 each; grapes .99/#; more beef patties .58-.75 for packs of 2; eggs 2/.79.  Total for food: 9.40

Target:  Caramel kisses 1.50/bag (the intent was to save these for Halloween….oops); Tic Tac .02; French bread .29; Nescafe .25; bl/sl chicken tenders 4.99 – 2.50 package TQ – $1 MQ = 1.50/20-oz pkgs!!  Total for food: 14.45
