This week’s Dinner Deal is kind to both time and financial budgets. During this hectic December week, with concerts, special events, and final preparations for Christmas, it’s nice to let the Crock Pot do the work and relax (or do more of other stuff!). For just such a night, I’ve made Crock Pot Spaghetti and Meatballs, served with a green salad. This serves six, so we’ll have leftovers for lunches.Whole grain spaghetti was on sale, with coupon, .79 Sauce on sale, .88 Meatballs made from scratch with 93% lean beef for 1.29/# and vestiges of onions past collected in the freezer, $3 (calculated by MasterCook) Romaine lettuce, .50 at Aldi Salad dressing, about .30 Milk and water to drink, .30 Total meal: $5.77 Total dinner for 4: $3.84
The spaghetti and meatballs is rich and comforting, but still good for you. The salad is a must for almost every dinner around here. The cost is totally doable (having replenished freezers and pantries with lower-cost ingredients). So save some green for playing Santa, and keep your tummy and your heart full and warm.
Have a Blessed and Merry Christmas!
